...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Elevated surf of 3-5 feet with sets up to 7 feet
expected along with dangerous rip currents and minor coastal
flooding.

* WHERE...San Diego County coastal areas and Orange County
coastal areas, particularly along south and southwest-facing
beaches.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Flooding of low lying beach parking
lots, boardwalks, and roads.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High tides peak around 6.2 to 6.5 feet from
8-10 PM PDT this evening.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as strong
rip currents...elevated surf heights...minor tidal overflow...or
lightning are possible at local beaches.  Obey posted warning
signs and flags and talk to a lifeguard before swimming.  Use
caution when in or near the water and always swim near a
lifeguard.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...High temperatures in the mid 80s near the beaches to the mid
to upper 90s for the mesas and other higher coastal terrain
expected. Low temperatures will be mostly in the 70s.

* WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM PDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
